Memories of Molly
Article Abstract:
Acknowledgement of a patient's terminal illness enabled the development of a trusting relationship between patient and nurses. Nursing staff feared a cancer patient's husband would not want his wife to know she had cancer. However, the patient guessed and acknowledged it to a student nurse. Her husband was relieved as he had always enjoyed an open relationship. Sensitive nursing care resulted from an open acknowledgement of the outcome.
