Economic fallout
Article Abstract:
The Red Cross has launched an appeal to help the underprivileged in Russia survive the coming winter, but a meeting with Red Cross and other nurses in Russia indicates that they are also in personal need. A Russian nurse earns the equivalent of around 20 pounds sterling per month. Inflation, due to the economic crisis in Russia, means that a jar of coffee costs the equivalent of 10 pounds sterling. The Red Cross fears that the underprivileged in Russia will be overcome by hopelessness and that suicide will become common.

Wheels of fortune
Article Abstract:
Nurses who have to use a car for their work find it costly. A health visitor from Scotland, John McLaren, who believes that his car is essential, rather than a benefit, has to pay a share of all the running costs for his car, based on his annual private mileage.
