Priceless
Article Abstract:
The UK nursing profession is under increasing pressure to demonstrate its clinical effectiveness. Modern health care management practices demand evidence of patient outcomes related to expenditure, and the fact that qualified nurses take up a large share of the health care budget makes this sort of investigation particularly relevant. However, the research evidence which exists concerning the value of nursing care has identified such a large range of nursing interventions and outcomes that efforts to prove cost-effectiveness are only slowly moving towards conclusions.

Geared up for guidance
Article Abstract:
Continence nurse specialists and advisers in the UK are becoming impatient for government guidelines on continence provision, which have been delayed a number of times and are now due in November 1999. A number of organizations including Incontact, the Royal College of Nurses and the Association for Continence Advice, have been involved in campaigning for continence services to be given the priority which they merit.
