Article Abstract:
A survey by the University of Southampton indicates that nurses have a 41 percent of chance of back injury. Steps to prevent back injuries that can be taken by individuals and by hospitals are discussed. Related articles on the work-related injury case of former nurse Angela Knott and on proper training in patient lifting are also presented.

Bearing the brunt of shortages
Article Abstract:
The government has recruited seventy-eight thousand new nurses to reassure the public and health professionals that staff shortages are being tackled. However, nurses reveal that they are still struggling to cope with workloads as there is lack of people, inadequate breaks and insufficient time to deliver the basics of care.
