HIV vaccine research gets $287 million boost

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded 16 grants totaling $287 million over 5 years to create an international network of collaborative research consortia in an attempt to accelerate the pace of HIV vaccine development. It would enable several investigators from different countries to tackle various challenges in HIV vaccine discovery and development.

Antipsychotics' link to weight gain found
Article Abstract:
Researchers have established that certain atypical antipsychotic drugs (AAPDs) used for the treatment of schizophrenia cause major weight gain. The new findings could be useful in the development of improved antipsychotic drugs to address the obesity problem in patients taking medications for psychiatric conditions.
