Effect of psyllium on gastric emptying, hunger feeling and food intake in normal volunteers: a double blind study
Article Abstract:
The effects of the soluble dietary fiber, psyllium on the gastric emptying of a low-calorie meal, gastric fullness, feelings of hunger and food intake are studied. Results show that psyllium decreased feelings of hunger and food intake following a low-calorie meal. Psyllium increased the time allowed for intestinal absorption, thereby extending the feelings of fullness and prompting a reduction in food intake.
