More effort urged on cancer control
Article Abstract:
The report showing decline in the number of death rates for the four most common cancers, namely, lung, breast, prostate and colorectal, throughout the 1990s is presented. However, it is pointed out that there is a need to find new methods to effectively disseminate advances in prevention, screening and treatment to all segments of the population as widening gap exists in the deaths between American and African-American groups.

Screening interval for colorectal cancer debated
Article Abstract:
A study done reveals that increasing the number of years between screenings for colorectal cancer through sigmoidoscopy could provide patients a high level of protection from potentially lethal polyps. However, the American Cancer Society and the American Gastroenterological association have decided that a minimum interval of five years should be maintained between screenings.
