Nation's TB cases decline to lowest point since '50s
Article Abstract:
New tuberculosis cases in the US reached 21,327 in 1996, a decrease of 7% from 1995. This number is the lowest amount of new cases of the disease since national statistics were started in 1953. Tuberculosis cases rose between 1985 and 1992. There are 20 states and the District of Columbia which have shown an increase or no reduction in the number of cases of the disease in 1995 and 1996.

Few domestic violence victims look for medical help
Article Abstract:
A survey of 72 domestic violence victims reveals that the majority of them have failed to solicit medical aid or advice, with only 12 having sought medical care or counseling subsequent to their victimization. The survey, which studied 62 episodes of domestic violence occurring in November 1995, also revealed that 89% of victims had reported previous assaults by their current assailants.
