Movement through change. (constipation, bowel management)
Article Abstract:
Nurses sometimes consider consitipation to be secondary in their assessment of patient needs, and medical staff are often ignorant of special needs required by the learning disabled. A nursing team at a community-based group home was able to take a holistic approach to individual bowel care. They were able to recognise the signs and symptoms of non-verbal clients and offer access to local generic services.
