Nail infection: newer medications tackle this stubborn problem

Nails are prone to fungal infections which cause discoloration, irritation and inflammation. They can be treated by oral medications such as itraconazole and fluconazole, which are administered for eight months to kill the fungus. Infections can also be avoided by keeping nails clean and dry.

Pill splitting: can cutting pills in half help save you money?

Buying larger-dose pills and cutting them in half may be a way to save on prescription costs. The technique may not work if the dose is not large enough, the pill has a coating or the pill is in a shape that is difficult to split. A consultation with a physician is essential.
