The challenge for education in a transformed health care system
Article Abstract:
Education is a key factor in meeting the challenges that nurse administrators face as they manage the delivery of patient care in a changing health care setting. The changes in this environment include a focus on disease prevention and the promotion of healthy behaviors in all segments of society. Continuing education for nurses must help them to manage the shift from an independent approach to patient care to an approach based on teamwork.

Reduced risk of complex response: an invisible outcome
Article Abstract:
Accurate assessment of the contributions of advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) would be easier if a new category were added to the classification of patient outcomes: reducing risk of complex responses. Treatment of complex responses, such as pressure ulcers, is recognized, but the reduction of the risk is not. To that end, APRNs should learn risk analysis and risk management principles to document their effect.
