The impact of using pharmacy window space for health promotion about emergency contraception
Article Abstract:
UK pharmacies can make very effective use of their window space to make the general public aware of emergency contraception, according to the results of a health promotion campaign about emergency contraception developed by Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow Health Authority, West London Health Promotion Agency and the Local Pharmaceutical Committee in London, England. Most customers reported finding emergency contraception displays good or very good. Using pharmacy windows and display boards within pharmacies led to a rise in the number of enquiries about emergency contraception.

Healthy alliances and social action broadcasting: assessment of a local radio project
Article Abstract:
A public health campaign called 'Listen To Your Heart', which was conducted in the West Midlands, UK, was unusual because a local radio station was used to promote the health education message. A soap opera which focused on health issues was produced and telephone advice lines and information packs for listeners were also available. The health authorities seconded someone to become directly involved in the management of the project rather than just be an advisor. The project showed how the media and the medical profession can work together to promote a message effectively.

Article Abstract:
UK schools are now increasingly considering how they can play a role in health promotion, especially since the UK joined the European Network of Health Promoting Schools in 1993.
