New name, new energy for tackling threats to autonomy

Past and present leaders of the American Medical Association (AMA) have called on physicians to be proactive, creative and innovative if they want to maintain control and professional autonomy. Speaking at the annual meeting of the association, AMA offcial Lee McCormick said that AMA members must be open to new ideas and be flexible to prepare for the changes that are expected to revolutionize the medical profession.

Interim EVP reflects on AMA issues

American Medical Assn interim Exec VP Lynn E. Jensen discussed the state of the association. The association is involved in so many activities which is a strength and a weakness. The association developed a vision statement that has enabled it to focus on plans for the future. Some issues have been handled poorly showing bad judgement but not showing a lack of ethics.
