Placenta previa: a 22-year analysis
Article Abstract:
Regional anesthesia during childbirth may be safe for women with placenta previa. Placenta previa occurs when the placenta does not attach to the uterine wall in the correct place. In a study of 514 women with placenta previa, general anesthesia caused greater blood loss and increased the need for blood transfusions compared to regional anesthesia.

Maternal Lyme disease and congenital heart disease: a case-control study in an endemic area
Article Abstract:
A pregnant woman who is bitten by a tick carrying Lyme disease should not worry that her baby might develop congenital heart disease. In a study of 796 children born with a heart defect and 704 who were not, the rate of Lyme disease or a tick bite in the mother was similar in both groups.
