Nurse wins battle for cancer drug
Article Abstract:
Barbara Clark, a nurse, who had early-stage breast cancer, explains how she single-handedly won the right to be prescribed a new best cancer drug trastuzumab (Herceptin). She desired to obtain the drug, which is only licensed for advanced disease, as based on growing evidence that women with her condition can halve the risk of tumour recurrence if they take trastuzumab alongside chemotherapy.

Healers help leukemia patients

The NHS is part-funding two healers, an aromatherapist, a reflexologist and a hypnotherapist to work alongside nurses in the hematology department due to their positive response to the patients' demand. The healers are helping the adults and children with leukemia at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust.
