A framework in the making
Article Abstract:
Nurses are increasingly taking on specialist roles. The UKCC proposes a framework for registration of these higher levels of practice. The basis of the framework is the practitioner's level of competence, evidence of which would be obtained from a portfolio compiled by the practitioner, an interview and a written account. The UKCC proposes that practitioners seeking registration at the higher level must have a degree, specialist experience, and must work mainly in planning, executing and evaluating care in their specialist area.
