Nurses role in promoting and supporting smoking cessation
Article Abstract:
Smoking is one of the biggest threats to public health, costing more than 120,000 lives per year in the UK alone, and hence helping smokers give up is one of the most effective health interventions and nurses are in a unique position to fill that role. The impact, smoking has on the health of public life is discussed.

NICE has recently launched a public health guidance with an aim to helping people change their lifestyles and health-related behavior. The report suggests that major improvements in controlling diabetes, obesity and teenage pregnancy need to be made to change the present scenario.
