One hundred years of imaging: new benefits, new challenges
Article Abstract:
The variety of diagnostic imaging tools that have been developed since Roentgen discovered the x-ray are described. The history and applications of Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Positron Emission Tomography are given. In addition, the applications of digital imaging equipment are discussed, pointing to the increasingly important role of computer technology in the healthcare industry. All of these developments mean faster, more accurate diagnoses and redound to greatly enhanced patient care.

Molecular imaging of Akt kinase activity
Article Abstract:
A new reporter molecule is described whose bioluminescence activity within live cells and in mice can be used for measuring serine/threonine kinase Akt activity. The results have provided insights into the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of agents that have modulated Akt activity, thus disclosing the usefulness of this reporter for rapid dose and for scheduling optimization in the drug development process.

Orthogonal polarization spectral imaging: a new method for study of the microcirculation
Article Abstract:
Orthagonal polarization spectral (OPS) imaging can visualize very small blood vessels that are difficult to visualize by other means. It can be placed on a small optical probe which could be used non-invasively.
