Optical coherence tomography: a new imaging technology for dentists
Article Abstract:
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) may be very useful for imaging teeth. This technique is similar to CT imaging except that it uses light rays instead of X-rays. It creates a two-dimensional image of a structure without all the surrounding structures to distort the view. One advantage of OCT over dental X-rays is that OCT can image soft tissues, which most X-rays cannot do.

Assessing the accuracy of caries diagnosis via radiograph: film versus print
Article Abstract:
The reliability of using digital imaging in making dental diagnosis is evaluated. The impact of two sizes of bitewing radiographs is compared to standard radiographic film images on diagnostic process of detecting caries. Findings indicate that printed images are as reliable as traditional methods.

Clinical diagnosis of recurrent caries
Article Abstract:
A focus on the practice-based studies in the literature to examine the clinical diagnosis of recurrent caries is presented. The studies reveal that diagnosis of a recurrent caries lesion is difficult and development of recurrent lesion is not related to microleakage.
