Orf virus infection in humans: New York, Illinois, California and Tennessee 2004-2005
Article Abstract:
The report summarizing the epidemiologic and laboratory investigations of four sporadic cases of human orf infection, emphasizing the temporal association between human lesions and skin trauma or recent flock vaccination with live orf vaccine is presented. Public health personnel should be cognizant of orf virus infection and patient could have progressive, destructive lesions requiring medical interventions such as antiviral therapy and surgical debridement.

Primary and secondary syphilis--United States, 2002
Article Abstract:
The number of Americans who have syphilis increased 12% between 2001 and 2002, from 6,103 cases to 6,862 cases. Almost four times as many men were affected as women, and many were gay men. This is confirmed by reports of syphilis outbreaks among gay men in some large US cities. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease.
