Osteitis pubis after Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz urethropexy: a pubic osteomyelitis
Article Abstract:
Osteitis pubis is an infrequent complication of gynecologic surgery but requires aggressive management. This condition is characterized by discomfort and pain over the pubic bones, difficulty walking and abnormalities in the pubic bones on X-ray. A review of 2,030 gynecologic surgeries found that 15 women developed osteitis pubis. Symptoms developed between 10 and 459 days after the operation. Bone cultures revealed that three-fourths of the women had a possible infection of the pubic bone. The women were treated with corticosteroids, antibiotics and surgery.

Removal of the retained cervical stump
Article Abstract:
A study to identify indications for and complications of abdominal or vaginal surgical removal of the cervical stump after previous supracervical hysterectomy is presented. Removal of the cervical stump is infrequent which may be because of the decreasing number of supracervical hysterectomies performed.
