Our new health care systems may not be fair
Article Abstract:
Economic pressures are forcing changes in the roles of both patients and physicians. With health resource rationing becoming so widespread it is affecting even basic health care services, patients must take up the responsibility of looking for their own needed care, with their physician's help. Physicians, in turn, must make sure that they do not abandon the needs of their individual patients although resource allocation requires that they consider the group of patients with similar problems in their medical decisions.
