Outgoing CNO defends value of role
Article Abstract:
England's outgoing chief nursing officer (CNO), Sarah Mullally leaves her post amid speculation that her power is diminished in the wake of changes to her role and having her team of direct advisers cut from 25 to six, as part of a streamlining process at the Department of Health. She however denies this speculation and states that a lot can be achieved as a CNO in front of and behind the scenes.

Will AFC end inequality for enrolled nurses?
Article Abstract:
Enrolled or level 2 nurses (ENs) were paid at a minimum of grade C under the old Whitley contract and their registered nurse (RN) counterparts started on a D grade, however, with the implementation of Agenda for Change (AFC) many ENs expected a better pay deal. The AFC rule states that all nurses, regardless of whether they are level 1or 2, should be placed on at least band 5.
