Outlook brighter
Article Abstract:
The UK Disability Discrimination Act was used when nurse Gordon Rea took his former employers to court over unfair dismissal. Rea had taken almost a year off work after injuring his back. The Gloucestershire Royal National Health Service Trust was found to have failed in its duties to find Rea a suitable replacement post which took into account his disability. The case has highlighted a lack of knowledge within health trusts about the rights of workers who are injured but wish to remain at work.
