Over 10 million people cured of leprosy
Article Abstract:
The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that more than 10 million people, who have been using multidrug therapy (MDT), have been cured of leprosy as of 1997. The drugs used were rifampicin, dapsone and clofazimine. No resistance or adverse side effects of the drugs were reported. However, WHO encourages endemic countries to increase their campaign against leprosy to allow unaccounted for patients to avail of the MDT treatment.
