Overuse strain or repetitive use injuries are common among people who use the same motions on a regular basis and do not pay attention to the position of their body. Pain is often the first symptom, and immediate care, such as resting and immobilizing the area useful to prevent further injury.

Rate-adaptive pacemakers sense changes in the user's level of physical activity and adapt the heartbeat accordingly, allowing the user to lead a more normal life. They work by detecting body motions, changes in breathing or changes in body temperature.
