Paget's disease of the vulva: prevalence of associated vulvar adenocarcinoma, invasive Paget's disease, and recurrence after surgical excision
Article Abstract:
Most women with Paget's disease of the vulva have a good prognosis, although the condition can recur after surgery. Paget's disease of the vulva is a rare type of cancer. A review of 100 women with this cancer found that only 4% had an additional cancer called adenocarcinoma and only 12% had invasive disease. However, after surgical treatment, 34% of the women had a recurrence after an average of three years. One of the four patients with underlying adenocarcinoma died from vulvar disease, but none of the remaining women did.
