Palliative care: nausea and vomiting
Article Abstract:
Advanced illness may often produce nausea and vomiting due to a number of disease or treatment related factors. The causes of the nausea and vomiting in such patients requires meticulous assessment, to ensure that the right choice of antiemetic is provided. Descriptons of both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to the treatment of nausea and vomiting are provided.

An article by Perdue (2005) on nausea and vomiting in advanced cancer has improved one staff nurse' s understanding and care of all patients who experience these symptoms. She shares her newly found information about patients with advanced cancer and this has enhanced the care for all patients suffering from nausea and vomiting.
