Patients gain access to Medline
Article Abstract:
Patient use of Medline, an electronic index of biomedical journals, is increasing. Free service through America Online and an easy-to-use World Wide Web site, which is expected to debut on Apr 14, 1996, have contributed to Medline's increased public use. Many physicians are concerned that patients will challenge their professional judgment as a result of increased access to medical journals. Patient use of Medline is welcomed by other doctors, stating that informed patients are more likely to comply with prescribed treatments.
