Peer reviewers' 'conspiracy' was to ensure quality of care
Article Abstract:
A cardiologist was unable to practice as a member of the hospital staff after five cardiac catheterization procedures were found to be substandard care by a peer review. A judicial review committee had planned to allow him to practice under stringent preceptorship guidelines but the hospital board of trustees believed patients would not be protected sufficiently. The cardiologist filed an antitrust suit but the court decided against the cardiologist.
