Article Abstract:
There are many opportunities for doctors to volunteer to provide free health care both in the US and abroad. Surgeons, obstetricians, pediatricians, and emergency physicians are most in demand. Organizations that will provide volunteer work for doctors include Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), the International Medical Corps, Health Volunteers Overseas, and Volunteers in Health Care.

The vaccine crossroads
Article Abstract:
The threat of smallpox, anthrax, and SARS has reminded many Americans that children are not the only ones who should be vaccinated. Many health care plans don't cover vaccination because vaccines are considered preventive medicine. And very few companies manufacture vaccines because vaccines are more expensive to make than drugs.

How cloning could change medicine
Article Abstract:
Doctors and medical researchers hope the controversy over cloning will not impede the use of stem cells to treat many incurable diseases. Stem cells are taken from human embryos, which are then destroyed. The stem cells can then be injected into a patient to regenerate certain tissues that have been destroyed by disease.
