Plasma, urinary, and salivary 8-epi-prostaglandin F(sub 2alpha) levels in normotensive and preeclamptic pregnancies
Article Abstract:
Pregnant women with preeclampsia have elevated levels of 8-epi-prostaglandin F(sub 2alpha) in their blood. This substance is produced by free radicals, which may indicate that free radical damage causes preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a serious complication of pregnancy.

Neuropeptide Y and nitrate levels in preeclamptic and normotensive gravid women
Article Abstract:
Neuropeptide Y and nitric oxide do not appear to play a role in preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy characterized by hypertension. In a study of 12 preeclamptic pregnant women and 12 healthy pregnant women, neuropeptide Y and nitric oxide levels were similar.
