Postoperative incision complications after cesarean section in patients with antepartum syndrome of hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets (HELLP): does delayed primary closure make a difference?
Article Abstract:
Delaying final cesarean incision closure in patients with hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets (HELLP) does not appear to reduce complication rates. HELLP is a complication of severe preeclampsia-eclampsia that interferes with normal clotting. It has been thought that delaying incision closure for two to three days after surgery would decrease complications. However, researchers compared cesarean incision outcomes in 75 HELLP patients with immediate closure of the skin and 29 patients with delayed closure. No differences were found for infection, bleeding, or failure to heal.

Quality of obstetric care and risk-adjusted primary cesarean delivery rates
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the association between risk-adjusted primary cesarean delivery rates and maternal and neonatal outcomes was conducted. The results indicated that risk-adjusted primary cesarean delivery rates are a good marker for maternal and neonatal outcomes.
