Preventing cervical cancer by vaccinating against HPV
Article Abstract:
Research has found that human papilloma viruses (HPVs) are responsible for most cases and a relatively limited number of HPV genotypes are classified as high risk which are isolated from almost all cervical cancers. The idea of vaccine to protect against HPV existed for long and the widespread availability of an effective vaccine against the high-risk subtypes of HPV will offer the potential to greatly reduce global mortality due to cervical cancer.
