Idaho bars 'most-favored-nation' clauses in managed care contracts
Article Abstract:
The Idaho Legislature has passed a bill that prohibts health insurers from including a 'most-favored-nation' or best price provision in their contracts with physicians and other health care providers. Such provisions are meant to ensure that health plans always receive the lowest available rates from health care providers, but providers argued that such contracts prevented them from lower their fees for individual circumstances.

Liability provision could derail managed care reform
Article Abstract:
A provision that would allow patients to sue their employer-sponsored health plans could cause the defeat of a bill containing other managed care consumer protections. Proponents claim the provision is needed to ensure quality of care. Opponents argue it will escalate health care costs and drive out employer-sponsored coverage.
