Heartfelt advice
Article Abstract:
Coronary heart disease causes almost 170,000 death in the UK annually, and the risk of developing it can be reduced by healthy eating. Health education is important for stressing the link between heart disease and smoking, high blood pressure and blood cholesterol, a bad diet and lack of exercise. In Europe, 1995 has been named as the Year of Nutrition. Coronary heart disease prevention will involve increasing public awareness of dietary habits, and nutrition, the effects of foodstuffs, improving school nutrition education, and urging nutrition training for health staff. Health education initiatives taking place in the UK are also discussed.
