Proposed rule will reduce NOx from power plants
Article Abstract:
The EPA has released a proposed rule that would reduce annual nitrogen oxide emissions from electric power plants by an additional 820,000 tons by the year 2000. The proposed rule represents the implementation of Phase II of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. The proposed rule is expected to affect 284 dry-bottom wall-fired boilers, 296 tangential boilers, 35 cell-burner technology boilers, 88 cyclones, 38 wet-bottom wall-fired burners, 29 vertically fired burners and five fluidized-bed combustors.

EPA updates master testing list
Article Abstract:
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has updated its master list of testing priorities. The updated list now contains more than 500 chemicals under 13 categories - an inclusion of 300 new chemicals and four new categories to the original list. The EPA's Office of Pollution and Toxics is the agency in charge of testing chemicals that may pose a reasonable amount of danger to human health and the environment.
