Extremes of body mass index do not affect first-trimester pregnancy outcome in patients with infertility
Article Abstract:
Obese women are no more likely to have a miscarriage in their first trimester after in vitro fertilization than other women, according to a study of 494 women. The miscarriage rate was approximately 21% overall, and did not change with body weight. Although obesity can cause serious complications in pregnant women, these complications usually occur in the third trimester.
