Prospective cohort study of antioxidant vitamin supplement use and the risk of age-related maculopathy
Article Abstract:
Researchers conducted a study to investigate whether self-selection for antioxidant vitamin supplement use affects the incidence of age-related maculopathy. Participants included 21,120 US male physicians who did not have a diagnosis of age-related maculopathy at baseline. During an average of 12.5 person-years of follow-up, 279 incidents of age-related maculopathy with vision loss were confirmed. Physicians who used vitamin E supplements had a possible 13% reduced risk, while users of multivitamin had a possible 10% reduced risk. The date suggests that among those who self-select for supplemental use of antioxidant vitamin C or E or multivitamins, large reductions in age-related maculopathy are not possible

Diabetes, body size, and risk of endometrial cancer
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the relationship between diabetes and the risk of endometrial cancer. Data from a population of women based on body mass index were obtained. Information such as weight, height, diabetes status, and other factors were also obtained and put in categories of not overweight, overweight, and obese. Women with diabetes had an adjusted odds ratio of 1.86 for endometrial cancer, which contradicted other reports.
