Prospective study of HTLV-I infection in an initially asymptomatic cohort
Article Abstract:
Although infection with HTLV-I can be benign, some people will develop chronic health problems. In a study of 20 asymptomatic HTLV-I-infected people, 9 developed a health problem and in four, the condition was directly related to the viral infection.

Failure of HIV-1 to infect human oocytes directly
Article Abstract:
The authors exposed the undeveloped ova of healthy women to HIV virus. Unlike tests in which infected human sperm was used, the human ova showed no signs of infection, as determined by polymerase chain reaction analysis.

Growth failure in children with HIV infection
Article Abstract:
About half of all HIV-infected children experience stunted growth, but the exact cause is not known. It does not appear to be caused by hormone abnormalities, gastrointestinal infection, or malnutrition.
