Protect your eyes: seeing is believing
Article Abstract:
A substantial number of US workers suffer eye injuries every year. In 90% of these cases, the injury could have been prevented if the worker had been wearing protective eyewear. It is not enough for employers to issue safety spectacles and then tell their workers to wear them. Employers should also educate their workers about the importance of safety glasses. Another way of getting workers to wear their safety glasses is by providing them with more comfortable, stylish models.

Seek simple solutions for ergonomics problems in construction
Article Abstract:
Construction workers are exposed to many ergonomic hazards, including sprains and strains. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that sprains and strains cause 37.6% of all lost-workday injuries among construction workers. The most effective way to prevent ergonomic problems in construction is to eliminate a job or redesign it so that it can be made safer. Simple adaptations and products especially designed to solve ergonomic problems can also be employed.

Plan now for fire safety ... or pay later
Article Abstract:
Building owners need to establish comprehensive fire safety programs to reduce losses during fires. They should go beyond building codes since such specifications are only the minimum standards of safety. In planning fire safety programs, building owners should consult local fire departments and seek to identify all possible causes of fires. They should also include in their programs tenant fire safety education.
