Article Abstract:
New disciplinary procedures for nurses have come into force, allowing the UKCC to disclose details of the complaint to the nurse before any formal reply is made. If nurses admit to a charge, they will receive a formal caution, which will remain on record for as long as five years, thus saving money and time, according to Tariq Hussain, assistant registrar at UKCC. Nurse facing charges will be suspended from the register until the time of the hearing, if their continued practice is a risk for the public.
