Occupational health nursing is an important part of community care, not least in Northern Ireland where many traumatic incidents have been caused by the troubles. Occupational health nursing in the province aims to counsel and support employees who have been involved in traumatic events through a series of interviews in which clients can recount their experiences and receive advice on coping with their health- or stress-related problems. The provision of occupational health nursing in Northern Ireland is discussed with reference to the special circumstances resulting from terrorist activity.
