Opportunities for nurses to become involved in public health work in the UK are discussed. A public health professional must now be present on the executive committee of all primary care trusts, and this has created very attractive career prospects for senior nurses who show strong leadership skills.

Is offering cash payments the answer to recruitment problems?
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the payment of 1,000 pounds sterling to nurses who are able to recruit new staff. The importance of investing in current staff in order to retain their services is discussed.
