Quality Counts: New Initiatives at HCFA
Article Abstract:
The American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) and the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) have taken actions to improve health care and ensure patients' rights. The ACNP has lobbied for a patients' rights bill. Four such bills have been proposed by Congress. The HCFA has introduced a Quality Improvement System for Managed Care to improve administration of Medicare and Medicaid.

Article Abstract:
The author examined some of the issues involved in the business of providing direct home care. Nurse practitioners and other nursing professionals have begun to establish and lead home care, long-term care, and community care systems.
