Quantitative micro positron emission tomography (PET) imaging for the in vivo determination of pancreatic islet graft survival
Article Abstract:
The clinical potential for expression of the gene encoding viral interleukin-10 (vIL-10) which was measurable in real time with positron emission tomography (PET) scanning is addressed by visualizing transplanted islets in the liver, the preferred clinical transplantation site. The results show that quantitative in vivo PET imaging is a valid method for facilitating the development of protocols for prolonging islet survival with the potential for tracking human transplants.

Positron emission tomography imaging for herpes virus infection: implications for oncolytic viral treatments of cancer
Article Abstract:
Positron emission tomography has proven to be an effective non-invasive modality for assessing the dissemination of viruses. Changes in thymidine kinase due to viral proliferation were detected 48 hours after injection of herpes simplex virus and for all .5 log increments.

PET concerns in bevacizumab treatment
Article Abstract:
The clinical and biological response to a single dose of bevacizumab in patients with rectal cancer was observed. Although researchers claim that the long-term results of combined therapy have been promising, PET found adverse effects on patients.
