Rapid emergence of enfuvirtide resistance in HIV-1-infected patients: Results of a clonal analysis
Article Abstract:
A research was conducted to study the dynamics of enfuvirtide (T-20) resistance development in HIV-1-infected subjects. The rapid emergence of mutations associated with T-20 resistance in the absence of a fully suppressive antiretroviral regimen demonstrated a low genetic barrier to resistance and underscored the importance of combining T-20 with other active drugs when constructing regimens for highly treatment-experienced patients.

Role of lymphocyte multidrug resistance protein 1 in HIV infection: Expression, function, and consequences of inhibition
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to characterize the expression, function and role of lymphocyte multidrug resistance protein (MRP) 1 in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-1 infection and its modulation by antiretroviral drugs. The result reveals that HIV replication is favored by the MRP1-related oxidative stress and inhibition of MRP1 might contribute to the antiviral activity of Protease inhibitors.
