Rational vaccine development- a new trend in tuberculosis control
Article Abstract:
The new recombinant bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine provided better protection against infection by H37Rv, a laboratory strain of mycobacterium tuberculosis commonly used in medical challenges and a clinically derived W-Beijing strain. This tuberculosis vaccine in humans is likely to be more effective as it appears to induce a stronger protective response, and provides immunity against some of the most virulent clinical strains circulating in human populations.
