Regulation of monocyte to macrophage differentiation by antiglucocorticoids and antioxidants
Article Abstract:
Women with endometriosis should be treated with drugs that have both antioxidant activity and antiglucocorticoid activity. Antiglucocorticoids block the activity of corticosteroid drugs. A study of the effect of antioxidants and antiglucocorticoids on immune cells called monocytes and macrophages found that some of these drugs stimulated the destruction of scavengers by these cells. These drugs would be helpful in eliminating damaged cells produced by endometriosis. However, this scavenging process produces inflammatory chemicals that could be eliminated by antioxidants.

The era of adherence to HIV therapy
Article Abstract:
More emphasis needs to be placed on adhering to treatment now that triple therapy is available for HIV patients. The addition of protease inhibitors to reverse transcriptase inhibitors has led to dramatic reductions in disease progression and death. However, triple therapy requires taking many pills a day at various times. This has led to high rates of non-compliance in some patients. This in turn allows the virus to mutate and become resistant to the drugs.
