Research facilities put out the smoke
Article Abstract:
Results of surveys conducted within the Research and Development (R&D) organizations of the National Safety Council and the American Industrial Hygiene Association show that an increasing number of corporations intend to adopt a no-smoking policy. The failure of corporate smoking policies has prodded R&D organizations to adopt a well-planned but harsher smoking ban. The more educated personnel of an R&D group within a company, who have been responsible for initiating a no-smoking rule, serve as models for other corporate departments that have not yet adopted the policy.
